Opening position: Computer Vision Engineer — Digital Delacroix
The project is recruiting a computer vision engineer for a 2.5-year contract, to build the machine learning models behind its authorship-analysis and reconstruction work.
This position focuses on a research initiative examining Eugène Delacroix's artistic methods through artificial intelligence and digital humanities. The Digital Delacroix project, directed by Barthélémy Jobert, brings together several Sorbonne Université laboratories, including SCAI, the André Chastel Centre, ObTIC and LAMS.
The initiative pursues three research objectives: analysing Delacroix’s complete works to reveal thematic connections, determining authorship contributions to the paintings of the National Assembly library created between 1838 and 1847, and reconstructing the destroyed Salon de la Paix decorations using historical documentation.
The engineer will develop machine learning models for authorship identification and generative computer vision tools for artistic reconstruction. Requirements include an MSc or PhD in computer science, proficiency in Python, deep learning expertise, and at least three years of experience in computer vision. Familiarity with art history or digital humanities is a plus.
